Honestly, have you ever woken up in the morning and from the moment you open your eyes, your mind starts to race, all these thoughts about your day fly through your head and that pattern continues throughout the day as it has for many years now. Worry and wonder completely taken over your mind and then suddenly you are lying back in bed again at the end of the day wondering where the time went. Sometimes unfortunately this can be a pattern we’re in our whole lives and then one day we look back and realised we missed out on being present for the moments that were happening right there and then all because we were too busy wondering or worrying about the moments that hadn’t happened yet. If this sounds like you then i have a few tips that may help:
- When you wake up every morning even if it for just 30 seconds, when the thoughts immediately start to flow in, take 3 deep breaths and feel the fabric of the sheets underneath you.
- Throughout the day, put a series of 2 hourly reminders on your phone and when the reminders beep (you can even call the reminders mindful moments if you wish) stop again even if it is for just a few seconds and take a breath.
- As many times throughout the day as you can remember be grateful for what and who you currently have in this present moment.
Reminder: Your physical body is always in the present moment, it is your mind that is not.
